Nonlinear Polarization Effects and Mitigation in Polarization Multiplexed Transmission

Abstract

We show that nonlinear polarization effects could significantly degrade the performance of polarization multiplexed transmission and change the perspective of dispersion management in such systems. Techniques to mitigate nonlinear polarization effects are discussed.
