Protection scheme for passive optical networks shared between a fixed and a mobile operator

Abstract

A protection scheme for passive optical networks (PONs) is proposed. It supports partial protection, relevant when reusing existing PON infrastructure for LTE-Advanced mobile network backhaul. We provide a protection level and cost analysis.
