R-SOA Based Extender for XG-PON/G-PON Applications

Abstract

Reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers were used in a downstream extender for G- PON and XG-PON applications. The performance of the R-SOA extender was demonstrated in a PON test bed using 1:64 splitter and 64.5 km reach.
