Transmission of 1.63-Tb/s PDM-16QAM Unique-word DFT-Spread OFDM Signal over 1,010-km SSMF

Abstract

We demonstrate transmission of 1.63-Tb/s PDM-16QAM unique-word DFT-spread OFDM signal over 1,010-km SSMF with 80-km span length and EDFA-only amplification. We find a 20 % reach improvement of DFT-spread OFDM over conventional OFDM.
