Photonics Generation of Phase-Modulated RF Pulses with Carrier Frequency Agility for Software-Defined Coherent Radars

Abstract

An innovative optical scheme generates software-defined phase-modulated RF pulses with carrier frequency agility from a mode-locked laser. Results show chirped pulses at 10 or 40GHz in a single setup, with phase-stability suitable for coherent radars.
