Nonlinear Tolerance of Few-mode Fiber Based Transmission Systems with Random Mode Coupling

Abstract

We propose an analytical model for nonlinear propagation in few-mode fiber with random mode coupling. Simulation results show the Q factor can be improved by 5.3 dB for OFDM system with DGD= ±1 ns/km.
