Abstract
Silicon photonics brings a major promise in increasing communication bandwidth between endpoints. Supercomputers are potentially the first adopters of this new technology, but state-of-the-art node architectures are unable to take advantage of the increased data rates. In this talk we will describe the major bottlenecks of existing supercomputer architectures and the changes that are needed to fully exploit silicon photonics.
