Abstract
Dominated by IP traffic Total IP traffic is projected to exceed 100 exabyte/mo by 2016 (1 exabyte = 1018 bytes) 1 exabyte/mo ~ 10 Tb/s of installed capacity (using factor 3.3 peak/avg traffic) ~20% to 30% year over year growth 100 Tb/s to 500 Tb/s of new installed capacity per year might be required by 2025 ~ total global traffic of 2011 (WARNING: extrapolations may be misleading)
