Blind symbol synchronisation in direct-detection optical OFDM using virtual subcarriers

Abstract

We investigate the performance of a novel blind symbol synchronisation technique using a 30.65Gb/s real-time 16-QAM OFDM transmitter with direct detection. The proposed scheme exhibits low complexity and does not have any bandwidth overhead.
