Abstract

A new robust Stokes space based modulation format recognition scheme using advanced statistical methods is demonstrated for autonomous software-defined coherent optical receiver applications. Experimental 1056km transmission signals are successfully identified among OOK/BPSK/QPSK/16-QAM and decoded with minimum BER at 16 or 32 Gbaud.
