Coherent Transmitters and Receivers for Pluggable Modules

Abstract

We review recent advances in coherent transponders for pluggable modules. Critical technologies of dense photonic integration techniques, such as planar lightwave circuits, silicon photonics, compound semiconductor photonics integrated circuits, etc., and the associated electrooptical integration into compact modules will be surveyed and discussed.
