Suitability of 130 Gb/s and 260 Gb/s real time transponders for advanced A/D stages in wavelength cross-connects

Abstract

Coherent detection and novel modulation schemes enable more compact channel insertion/extraction in wavelength cross-connects, but possibly with further optical noise. We experimentally assess the related penalties with real time 130 Gb/s and 260 Gb/s transponders.
