Using Orbital Angular Momentum Modes for Optical Transmission

Not Accessible

Abstract

We review recent progress on optical transmission using orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes. Free-space OAM transmissions with a spectral efficiency of 95.7 bit/s/Hz and an aggregate capacity of 100.8 Tbit/s and 1.1-km fiber OAM transmission with an aggregate capacity of 1.6 Tbit/s are demonstrated. Grooming OAM networking functionalities and future challenges are also discussed.
