LCOS-based Flexible Grid 1×40 Wavelength Selective Switch Using Planar Lightwave Circuit as Spot Size Converter

Abstract

A high port count WSS using planar lightwave circuit at optical input/output ports is presented. We demonstrate a LCOS-based 1×40 WSS with less than 8.0 dB insertion loss and ±17 GHz 0.5 dB passband width.
