Mode-Group-Selective Photonic Lantern based on Integrated 3D Devices Fabricated by Ultrafast Laser Inscription

Abstract

We demonstrate a three-dimensional adiabatically-tapered mode-group-selective space-division multiplexer fabricated by ultrafast laser inscription. The device supports two mode groups at 1550 nm, has a loss of <4 dB, and is scalable to more modes.
