Multidirectional Routing in Wavelength Selective Switches

Abstract

We present a novel configuration of bidirectionally-utilized WSSs, which enables routing of wavelengths between tributary ports. The proposed configuration enables realization of OXCs and ROADMs with fewer numbers of WSSs than would conventionally be required.
