Pump-to-Signal Cross-Polarization Scattering in Coherent Dual-Polarized Systems with Forward Raman Amplification

Abstract

We demonstrate that pump-to-signal cross-polarization scattering represents an impairment that limits the amount of forward Raman pumping used in polarization-multiplexed coherent systems. We also develop and validate experimentally an analytical noise model for the impairment.
