Carrier Phase Recovery without Pilot Symbols for Non-Differential Coherent Receivers

Abstract

We propose a time-domain hybrid modulation technique to eliminate the cycle-slip problem in non-differential coherent receivers. The method avoids the use of pilot symbols for carrier phase recovery, achieving 0.8 dB gain over differential modulation.
