WDM-PON Preventive Optical Monitoring System with Colourless Reflectors

Abstract

A new optical monitoring system for remote measurement of fibre attenuation in WDM-PONs is reported. It uses colourless reflectors at ONU side, avoiding inventory complexity. Its performance is demonstrated with negligible penalty on 12.5Gb/s transmission.
