A High Extinction Ratio, Broadband, and Compact Polarization Beam Splitter Enabled by Cascaded MMIs on Silicon-on-Insulator

Abstract

We demonstrate a compact C-band polarization beam splitter based on multimode interference. The measured extinction ratios are over 14 dB and 20 dB spanning 55 nm spectral range for the TE and TM ports, respectively.
