Novel a-Si on Garnet Nonreciprocal Phase Shift Optical Isolator with TE Mode Operation

Abstract

A waveguide optical isolator operating in TE mode was demonstrated with an isolation of 17.9 dB. Amorphous silicon core along lateral walls of magneto-optical garnet was fabricated to induce nonreciprocal phase shift in TE mode.
