Low-cost E1-class 10-Gb/s Directly Modulation Laser in TO-can Package with Optical Filtering for XG-PON Application

Abstract

A low-cost E1-class 1577nm 10Gb/s directly modulation DFB laser in TO-can package is demonstrated with 7.3dBm output power and 8.9dB extinction ratio using optical filtering. 37.6dB power budget is achieved after 20km single-mode fiber transmission.
