Experimental Verification of Mode-Dependent Loss Reduction by Mode Coupling Using Long-Period Grating

Abstract

Experiments reveal, for the first time, the mode-dependent loss (MDL) reduction effect of mode-coupling in long-period-grating. MDL is reduced effectively even if the transmission system has a large differential-mode-attenuation.
