Residual Non-Linear Phase Noise in Probabilistically Shaped 64-QAM Optical Links

Abstract

We show that the performance penalty for probabilistically-shaped constellations induced by residual non-linear phase noise after standard CPE is significantly higher in low-symbol rate systems, canceling the potential gain achievable through symbol rate optimization.
