Observation of Guided Acoustic-Wave Brillouin Scattering and its Digital Compensation in Coherent QAM Transmission

Abstract

Guided acoustic-wave Brillouin scattering (GAWBS) noise was observed in a digital coherent QAM transmission, which deteriorated the transmission performance. A new digital signal processing method is presented that compensates for the GAWBS noise.
