Demonstration of on-chip 640-Gbit/s throughput, granularity-flexible programmable optical filtering and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing on silicon platform

Abstract

By integrating cascaded arrayed-waveguide gratings with array switches on silicon platform, we design and fabricate an on-chip multi-functional photonic signal processor. 640-Gbit/s throughput, granularity-flexible programmable optical filtering and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing are demonstrated experimentally.
