A Novel Data-Compression Technology for Digital Mobile Fronthaul with Lloyd Algorithm and Differential Coding

Abstract

A data-compression technology with differential-coded Lloyd algorithm is envisioned to improve bandwidth efficiencies in digital-mobile-fronthaul networks. We experimentally demonstrated milestone transmissions of 180 Gbps over 80-km fronthaul links encapsulating 64×100-MHz 1024-QAM 5G-NR carriers with lower-than-0.5% EVM.
