Abstract

We demonstrated a linear type polarization-insensitive and bandwidth-adjustable anisotropic dynamic grating in a piece of non-birefringent erbium-doped fiber (EDF) by utilizing phase modulation method. The feedback light reflected by a Faraday rotator mirror is orthogonally polarized to the incident light. These two light beams record an anisotropic dynamic grating in the EDF, which is insensitive to polarization of the incident light as verified experimentally.
