Nonlinear absorption in single-photon detector and ultrafast mode-locked laser pulse characterization

Abstract

We observe novel nonlinear absorption in a bialkali-cathode single-photon detector, and propose mutual-correlation scheme to characterize precisely the time-jitter of ultrafast pulses, while demonstrate it with error less than 0.828 fs.
