Abstract

We demonstrate non-orthogonal Stokes vector modulation at 4 bits/symbol while retaining direct photodetection. 20Gb/s transmission is obtained over a loss budget of 22dB. Pilot-assisted receiver training mitigates the polarization transform along 40km of field-deployed fiber.
