Leveraging LED Technology in Consumer Electronics Towards Gb/s Indoor Visible Light Communication

Abstract

SMD-LEDs intended for illumination can support modulation efficiencies of 5.98 bits/symbol and data rates of 350 Mb/s as indoor VLC receivers in combination with laser-sourced pencil beams. Gb/s operation is feasible through R/G/B channel bonding.
