>25 Gbit/s LiFi with Laser Based SMD White Light Source

Abstract

We demonstrate a high-speed LiFi (Light Fidelity) communication system deploying ultra-high brightness laser-based white light illumination sources in a surface mount device (SMD) package platform. The multi functionality sources provide 1000 lm of white light output with a brightness of 1000 cd/mm2 and data transmission rates beyond 20 Gbit/s from dual blue laser integrated SMD, and 500 lm of white light output with a brightness of 1000 cd/mm2 and data transmission rates beyond 25 Gbit/s from dual color of blue and infrared (IR) laser integrated SMD.
