Distributed Measurement of the Shape of Microbends in Optical Fibers

Abstract

We present the distributed shape measurement of microbends in a twisted multicore optical fiber. The measurement resolution of the fiber shape reconstruction is ~40 µm in the longitudinal domain and sub-micron in the transverse domain.
