Single-span IM/DD Transmission over 120-km SMF with a Silicon Photonic Mach-Zehnder Modulator and THP

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate up to 120-km dispersion-uncompensated transmission in a SiP MZM-based IM/DD system. 28/42-Gbaud DSB PAM4 signal is transmitted over 80/120-km SMF enabled by Tomlinson-Harashima precoding and receiver-side linear equalization.
