First Demonstration of Uncoupled 4-Core Multicore Fiber in a Submarine Cable Prototype with Integrated Multicore EDFA

Abstract

We demonstrate the first 15.2 km prototype of submarine cable with 4-core MCF. Cabled MCF changes are negligible. We confirmed MC-EDFA integration to the cable improves Q-value by 0.6 dB through real-time 5,350 km transmission.
