High-Capacity Mode Division Multiplexing Transmission Technology

Abstract

Mode division multiplexing is an attractive method of increasing the transmission capacity. This paper presents the 402.7-Tbit/s weakly coupled 10-mode-multiplexed transmission over 48 km and 50.47-Tbit/s standard cladding coupled 4-core fiber transmission over 9,150 km.
