Stripping-Free Direct Fiber Insertion Connectors Using Thin-Coated Optical Fibers

Abstract

Single-mode fiber connectors are demonstrated with 125 µm diameter thin-coated fibers directly inserted into connector ferrules. Low insertion loss of less than 0.3 dB is achieved due to the high concentricity of the coating.
