Core Selective Switch Based Branching Unit Architectures and Efficient Bidirectional Core Assignment Scheme for Regional SDM Submarine System

Abstract

We propose core-selective-switch-based branching-unit architectures and an efficient bidirectional core-assignment scheme for regional space-division-multiplexing submarine systems. The architectures increase the number of reconfigurable cores and halve the number of multi-core fibers in branching cables.
