ANN-based Optimization of Probabilistic and Geometric Shaping for Flexible Rate 50G and beyond PON

Abstract

Joint probabilistic and geometric shaping is considered for flexible PON. Optimal modulation is found through ANN, which generalizes to various ROPs and fiber lengths while taking dispersion, limited bandwidth, and receiver-side DSP into account.
