Experimental Probing and Modeling of the PDL Impact on the Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio

Abstract

The PDL impact upon the OSNR is systematically probed in an experimenttal setup using coherent optical technology for the first time. Extending the observation through a Monte Carlo analysis, the PDL-induced OSNR penalty is modeled.
