Observation of Local Small Magnitude Earthquakes using State Of Polarization Monitoring in a 250km Passive Arctic Submarine Communication Cable

Abstract

We demonstrate local small-magnitude earthquake observation using State of Polarization sensing on an alien wavelength in a live single-span passive submarine cable communication system. Distributed Acoustic Sensing verifies seismic waves propagating along the cable.
