Statistical Properties of NLIN in Presence of PDL

Abstract

We present an analytical model which predicts the statistical properties of nonlinear interference noise in fiber links affected by PDL. We show that many features of NLIN, such as its phase and polarization rotation noise may be significantly modified by PDL components present in the link.
