New Mode-Group-Permutation Strategies for MDL Reduction in Long-Haul MDM Systems

Abstract

We compare 9 types of mode-permutation strategies (MPSs) aiming at MDL reduction in MDM systems, based on in-house low-DMD 6-mode optical fibers and MPLCs. Two new CMGP strategies are proposed, showing reach extension by 3~3.5 times.
