Fiber-Optic Evanescent Wave Gas Spectroscopy

Abstract

Methane gas is detected by the spectroscopic method using evanescent waves of optical fiber. The sensor consists of a single silica fiber with small cladding diameter and operates at the He-Ne 3.39µm line.
