Abstract

We have measured the pressure response of a high-temperature fiber-optic microbend sensor fabricated from fused silica and configured for pressure measurements (Fig. 1). The sensor was characterized at pressures up to ±690 kPa and temperatures to 540b°C. The experimental data show approximately a linear dependence on the applied pressure when the microbend sensor is preloaded. This behavior is in agreement with the calculated results for the linear deflection of a preloaded diaphragm with applied pressure.
