Rotation sensors based on single-mode fibers with low and high birefringence

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Rotation sensors based on monomode fibers with low and high birefringence have been studied. A sensitivity of 0.007°√h has been achieved in a device with a (λ = 840-nm) laser diode and 1-km low-birefringence fiber. Long-term stability was ~1°/h.
