Abstract

Single-mode fiber-optic devices 1,2 such as quarter-wave and half-wave devices are very useful for the polarization control schemes, single mode-fiber comunications and fiber sensor applications etc.,. One of the major advantages . of single-mode optical fiber devices compared with bulk-optic and planar waveguide devices is the simplicity of splicing to the single-mode optical fibers with low insertion loss.
