Low Frequency Transduction Mechanisms of Fiber-Optic Air-Backed Mandrel Hydrophones

Abstract

A modified theory for calculating the quazistatic phase response of fiber-optic air- backed mandrel hydrophones is presented. The theory is verified experimentally, and demonstrates that a significant reduction in acoustic responsivity can be expected for short transducers.
