Abstract

We have recently investigated the possibility of rotation sensing using a bidirectional Er-doped fiber ring laser [1, 2], Although a beat signal whose frequency was proportional to the rotation rate was observed, the signal amplitude was too small and unstable to be practical because the laser was operated in unstable multiple longitudinal modes[2].
