Abstract
A long-distance Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor system using a high-speed swept-wavelength light source (HSLS) is proposed and demonstrated. Output power of the HSLS is turned on/off and its timing is synchronized to the sweep signal of the HSLS to reduce optical noise induced by Rayleigh scattering generated from the transmission fiber. This system can detect change of FBG reflection wavelengths even if the FBGs are located at a 100km remote sensing position.
